Apologies for the scattered ness of this post! I am so behind on my posts that I feel like I’ll never catch up!
A while back, I was invited by Newport Style to visit one of their stunning mansions, Marble House, and its nautical store.
Yes, I said NAUTICAL STORE!! I only recently, thanks to Instagram, realized that the Newport Preservation Society and the Newport Mansions have 7 stores! Plus, they have an incredible online site.
The best part about this shoppi ng experience is that it combines current preppy must have brands like Lisi Lerch and Kiel James Patrick with historical gems like Votes for Women tea cups and saucers.
During my visit to Marble House, I learned that Alva Vanderbilt was instrumental in the Votes for Women movement. There was an entire China service dedicated to this at Marble House. Alva had a Chinese tea house built on the grounds, where she hosted rallies for rights to vote! I have passed this so many times on the Cliff Walk and thought that it was beautiful, but random, never realizing it’s epic significance!
Marble House was also home to the somewhat dreamy Harold Vanderbilt, yachtsman and three time World Cup defender.Newport Style is having 25% off almost everything sitewide sale, so I have picked out a bunch of my favorites!!

Thanks to my friends at the Newport Preservation Society for hosting me for a fun day!
Have a nice weekend!
