Nantucket Christmas Stroll 2015

There’s nothing that gets one into the Christmas/Holiday Spirit like visiting Nantucket for the annual Christmas Stroll.  This charming town becomes even more charming with all of its amazing decorations.  And the people really get into it as well. And the shopping!! Score! Lots reduced to at least half off, so know what you want and be ready to pounce!

I have now been to Stroll the last two years, just for a day trip, and I hope to make it an annual tradition.

Due to lack of planning, we took an early ferry and arrived on the island at 9:15 a.m. Coffee was badly needed, so we headed to Petticoat Row.  I considered eating one of these whale ccokies for breakfast, but end up going the semi healthy route at Fog Island, my personal breakfast fave.

After breakfast, we hit some stores and then headed to check out the little open air market, which had fundraisers for local organizations.  We hit the junior high make your own hot chocolate bar.
And then Rach had to decorate a cookie for me to eat. Now we were awake!!

The decorations along the streets were so pretty- both planters and trees that were spaced out and uniquely decorated throughout the center of town.
It was pretty easy to get into the spirit when walking along the water and through the center of town.

The super-tall town crier announced that Santa was coming.  And he did come up main street.  In a convertible.  And the good people/visitors of/to Nantucket ran to the car, and almost knocked me over- so no great Santa pic.

The tree at Town Hall was gorgeous- but it talked, which was a slightly creepy.

People get dressed up for Stroll, which is awesome!

After many hours of shopping, we headed to the Whaling Museum for the annual display of trees, each decorated by a different organization/person/entity.

Time flew, and we had to head back to the mainland.  I passed out on the ferry, but woke up just in time to catch a few snaps of the breathtaking sunset.
Once home, it was time to review my purchases.
Top two from Morelle- they had a fun promo where you decided what you wanted to buy and then opened a fortune cookie to see what your discount was.  I took a gamble with the cashmere tunic, which was already 30% off, and I got another 40% off of it and the earrings.  SCORE!
Kiel James Patrick bracelet and necklaces- 65% off at Sail Loft! SCORE!
T-Shirt was $10 from Sail Loft and the earrings were $25- impure emeralds and sterling silver.  It’s SO HARD to find green and silver, and I am so not a big green and gold person.
The only way that the night could have been better is if there was sushi.  So I ordered some!

Reflecting on the day, I thought about how thankful I am for the good things in my life- including fun friends to go Strolling with!
