Resolutions End of the Year Check In

img_3231So, this year.  Wow/ugh.  More on that in tomorrow’s post, but here’s a review of my 2016 resolutions.

Be more organized- getting there, but I didn’t get there quick enough.  I did such a poor job packing for my move that I had to hire a disposal company to clean out my garage in order to make my closing.  I lost art supplies, clothes and I think both of my cameras.

Keep the house cleaner- working on that one too, but I have made progress.  I am still unpacking, and I have downsized because my house is smaller.  But 4 cats and two people are a lot to keep up with- although I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Cut down on shopping/acquiring- I did for a good while, and then I splurged around the holidays.  But I have a lot of home improvements to do, so that will be done for 2017.

Get in touch with/visit old friends- I did make it to Naples to see my godmother, but, due to selling my condo and buying a house, I experienced a pathetic lack of travel.

Find permanent, healthy eating lifestyle- Needs work.  I have made some good changes and swapped out a lot of bad carbs, but I still eat too much and snack unnecessarily.  My sister is working with me on some meal plans, and I am looking forward to buckling down after the new year.

CHEESE ADDICTION

Travel to Europe- obvious fail.  I was hoping to get there for the Christmas markets somewhere, but it didn’t happen.  Next year, for sure, even if I have to go by myself!

Learn to code- I have made some progress, but I haven’t been consistent enough.

Start my side business- 2017 for sure!  It just was not possible this year with fixing up my place, buying a new car and buying a new house.

Sell my condo, buy a house, grow a garden- Check on the first two, and I am really proud of it.  I pretty much did it on my own, and although there were some times that I didn’t think I’d make, I did and I am so happy!  I didn’t move to my dream town, but I have a house with a front and back yard good for playing hydrangeas and peonies in the front and fruits, veggies and flowers in the back.  My home office overlooks the bay, and I am still putting up my nautical decorations!

This VIEW!

Save more animals- Yes!  Big time!  I have really expanded my social media network of rescue people, and I have met some great people who give me hope in this not so hopeful time.  I have a lot planned for next year, including an outreach program for senior living residences to place senior animals.          Be a better family member/friend/girlfriend- I would like to think that I have done better, but I still need to do a lot of work in all of the categories.  Some factors were beyond my control, some weren’t.  Don’t we always need work in this department?

Stay tuned for my 2017 resolutions.  I know that the few of you who read this are on the edge of your seats.

Xx, PF
