Sunday Snow Day Amusement

Welcome to New England in February, where it dumps snow.  I have not left the house two out of the last 4 days, so I needed to get out.

I was going to meet a friend for an adventure in Hingham, but the snow was coming down heavily.  There was actually a break in the hideousness of tre precipitation, so I shoveled off the car (again) and headed out.First stop was the Sara Campbell Hingham warehouse sale.  Fortunately, the location was still open, despite the weather!  They had cheese and flatbread from Bloomy Rind, and they cracked a bottle of wine!  I found a great deal on a sweater poncho and an absolute steal on a Chanel looking cuff.  Then it was off to Lido, where I tried a spiced cacao latte which does not have coffee in it (I am allergic- coffee puts me to sleep).  It had a bunch of amazing vegan stuff in it, and it blew away regular almond milk hot chocolate.  If I lived in Hingham, I would get this every day!Bloomy Rind was sadly closed and La Petit Maison was also ferme.  But I did swing by the Talbots flagship store!Next stop had been on my foodie list to hit, so I hit it by my myself- Trident Galley and Raw Bar.  The snow was starting to really come down again, but raw bar was calling.  On my plate: saffron cocktail shrimp (needed more saffron flavor, but a wonderful and unique concept for one of my favorite flavors), a Belon oyster from Maine and a Kumamoto oyster.  I had never had a Belon oyster, and it was so good that I ordered another one.  It’s shell was shaped almost like a scallop and it was slightly sweet and wonderfully plump.  Followed by deviled eggs with smoked trout.  The addition of the trout was a subtle and delicious touch to deviled eggs, which Indont usually order because I hate the taste of egg yolks.  The cocktails looked amazing, and I can’t wait to try them with friends on a return visit!Following a hard core stock up at Trader Joe’s was a quick stop at the Lobster Stop for fish & chips for the bf.  People still hit this place big time, even in a snow storm.  Then home to get snowed in again and eat yummy leftover veggie lasagna.  And to make snow cream for dessert!  Tonight’s flavor: saffron rose.  Don’t eat the yellow snow- unless there’s saffron syrup in it!Stay warm and safe, snowy friends.  And enjoy the warmth if you aren’t anywhere near here.
