If you like to shop as much as I do, you have NO DOUBT experienced THE GASP.
I don’t believe in the thunderbolt when it comes to love connections, but I do when it comes to shopping.
The GASP can happen when you are walking past something in a store, when you walk into a house or when you are surfing the web/Instagram. Something unexpectedly catches your eye and GASP- must have.
Having worked in retail for almost 15 years, I experienced many GASPs. And now, with Instagram, temptation is really all around.
Sometimes the have-to-have GASP is realistic. Other times, not so much.
Which brings me to the Thrill of the Hunt. Finding the item and making it yours. This may be an instantaneous thing, like when Lilly re-released the You Gotta Regatta print and Lilly fans called/ran to the nearest store. For me, the thrill of the hunt often comes from me getting a great deal on something that I have seen.
A Jonathan Adler sea creature tote that I saw at work at Bloomies a few summers ago – $195 and I ended up getting it for about $50.
The Two Bees Cashmere sweater in this color combo- still working on it.This raincoat from Talbots new releases- it’ll probably happen if the price is right.
The art print that I saw in Hingham for $800? Nope. But the little triptych of the same print at Stroll this past year for $60. Yep!
The Burberry heart cashmere scarf for $750- probably not going to happen.
A lovely house in Sconset? Also unlikely to happen. But, a prep has to dream.
What are some of your GASPs and scores?
Go Pats!
