This past Saturday, I was fortunate enough to attend the Style Collective Boston launch of founder Annie Spano’s “Becoming Fearless” podcast at La Voile. I got accepted to Style Collective at the beginning of this month, and I was beyond thrilled! I got to meet Annie, fellow Francophile Lindsay Shores of Paris, Meet Boston and other Style Collective sisters. On top of that, it was at a French Restaurant that I had yet to visit.
I am so happy that I finally had the opportunity to visit La Voile. It is such an adorable space. I mean, how could it be anything but great when this is what you walk into- French with a South of France theme?!La Voile, which means “the sail” in French, is a restaurant in Cannes, and when a sailor named Pierre brought the restaurant to Boston. This included much of the contents of the restaurant- nautical decor, chairs and tables, lighting fixtures, the works. I walked into our private room, and I was immediately greeted by organizers Lindsay and Gretchen. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! When Style Collective founder and fearless leader Annie Spano arrived, it was more hugs all around! Our charmant server, Alexis, made sure that everyone got a complimentary kir royale. We talked for about an hour and then we sat. Sur la table were plates of cheese, charcuterie and an appetizer of fois gras on toast (not eaten by me, but those who eat meat said it was delicious) and salmon with cucumber. We all toasted each other, and, before listening to the podcast, Annie told us a little bit of her backstory and had us go around the room and talk about our blog and other social media and what our long term goals were. This was absolutely fascinating for me to hear, especially because I don’t have a lot of friends who blog.I won’t recap Annie’s podcast. You just need to click this link and listen for yourself! How are adorable were the goodie bags?!There was a prix fixe menu, but everyone chose to go a la carte, as we’d all been noshing for a while.Maybe it was because we ate these macarons from Dana’s Bakery before lunch arrived! Vanilla with raspberry jam and champagne. So delicious!I ordered le saumon fume, a very generous and fresh smoked salmon salad with greens, lemons and onions. Such a difference in portion from the pathetic little strip of salmon in the similarly priced salmon and egg dish that I got at Greydon House in Nantucket. The sandwiches were huge, and everyone who ordered them took home leftovers. The moules (mussels) looked amazing if you are a fan of them. There was no room for dessert, but I made a big list of things that I want to come back to try. Lunch on the patio is definitely happening!
Et Merci a Jerome Bergere, one of the owners, who was so thoughtful and kind to provide us with the complimentary Kir Royales and fantastic accomodations.
A la prochain fois, soeurs de Style Collective and La Voile.
