East Boston Oysters Pop-Up: Bagels, Bubbles and Caviar

Sometimes, being an Instagram addict is depressing.  I see amazing adventures of people way younger than I am who get free everything and have no worries about supporting themselves.

On the plus side, I get great ideas about where I want to go, places to eat and things to do.  Not to mention the fashion inspo!

I follow Just Us Gals Boston and have attended some great events hosted by them.  Such a wonderful resource, plus a great way to meet other bloggers!

It is through Just Us Gals on Instagram that I found out about East Boston Oysters.  Go to their page, which I have linked, to see their excellent explanation of who they are, as my explanation is not going to do it justice.  In a nutshell, they organize amazing themed popups in secret locations with oysters and other great food.  When I saw that such a thing existed on Instagram, my eyes popped out of my head.

I attended Bagels, Bubbles and Caviar at a secret location (not gonna tell you where, but it was awesome), on June 4.  They had three 1.5 hour time slots to choose from.  One of my friends suggested the last time slot, and that was a good call.  It was nice to not have to worry about getting shuffled out, and there was a crap ton of leftover caviar.

At the start, we were ushered into a room with loads of bagels, schmear and caviar/tobiko!  The bagels were from Katz’s in Chelsea, and the choices were sesame, everything and plain.  Not sure if there were other types earlier, but, no matter, I always enjoy an everything bagel! There were three types of schmears- lox, plain and Buenas pebre, which is a delicious locally made condiment with a kick.  It was also served with the oysters, and I grabbed a jar to take home, which I have already used on fish!Just a spoonful to get started.  To be used later to shovel copious amounts of caviar into my mouth! We proceeded with our decorated bagels and some mimosas with  fresh squeezed Jugos oj up to the roof for the bubbles, more caviar and the oysters!   Pictured at my feet above was the smooth Topo Chico Agua Mineral.   I wish I had drank more than one.  They say it cures hangovers.  I don’t know about that, but it was good! What a view! There were two types of oysters, Pearl Point from Oregon and Beach Plum from Massachusetts.  I preferred the Pearl Point, but both were delicious in their own, different ways. There were also two types of caviar- Hackleback and Black Opal.  This one was a tie for me- and I ate so much that at one point, I had one of my friends look up how many calories were in a tablespoon of caviar (it’s 40, which isn’t bad unless you consume more than you could estimate in that measurement)!

For bubbles, there was a delicious sparking rose Falistra Lambrusco do Modena and an Onward Sparkling Malvasia Bianca.   I didn’t drink the sparkling white, but I did drink the rose, which was lovely with everything that I ate!Game playing- Connect Four and cornhole were also happening.  But my trio was too busy eating and drinking. There was also a beyond phenomenal cake – not sure that it was served, but holy crap!  empanadas and cats?!?!  I don’t know you, Nini, but I feel like we could be buddies! What a great event East Boston Oysters put together!  I can’t wait to attend another one!
