Working backwards as I am waaay behind on my posts.
As most of you blog readers know, today is Small Business Saturday. After yesterday’s big store splurges – a new washer, a Surface pro, a new knife set and other stuff mainly for the house, I so look forward to shopping locally.
I slept in, made myself a healthy banana oat pancake, and headed out around lunch time.
First stop was In the Pink, my local Lilly Pulitzer signature store, where I worked many moons ago. There were some great discounts, but I managed to stick with my plan to go for the only thing that I actually needed: a 2017 agenda. I know that most people put appointments in their phone, but I still like writing things down (when I actually remember). I scored this one for $15.
As I found a meter right in front of Saltie Girl, I had to try it. I grabbed the sole free seat at the bar, and I perused the extensive menu. In addition to oysters, a varied raw bar, cooked and uncooked dishes, they also have two pages of tins with sardines, tuna, anchovies, octopus, squid and other goodies.
I opted for 3 oysters to start.
Followed by tuna carpaccio. I literally cannot explain how good this was. The radish, pickled onions, herbs, and homemade ponzu sauce. And the tuna was so fresh and beautiful.
Followed by THIS DISH- toasted gnocchi with caviar. I couldn’t finish either dish, and I know that it won’t taste the same when I eat it tomorrow. But when I was eating it, I just wished that I could eat it every day.
I then headed to Follain, where I picked up the new pine scented seasonal body wash. Such a good deal that their containers are refillable!
I walked down the street to Maison de Mer, where the adorable French imports (mixed with some Massachusetts made candles) looked and smelled like Christmas. I picked up a Rose de Mai body butter from Provence and Basalm taper candles.
Final Boston stop was Café Madeline on Columbus. I had a delicious passion fruit macaron and an lovely chocolat chaud with some cinnamon. I picked up a big brownie and a croque monsieur for my monsieur.
A quick stop at Good Health in Quincy where I restocked on gelatin-free daily gummies, pumpkin protein powder and some herbal pain supplements for my shoulder, and that was small business Saturday.
Football watching and house stuff tomorrow, cyber Monday and my new washing machine after that.
Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!
